Half Way Across the Big Pond

The wine menu for the ship has only one Rose available. We had an interesting conversatin with the head sommelier for the Brittania Restaurant about the lack of Rose on the menu. He said that he would love to have more, but the passengers are still buying White Zinfandel (two bottles on the menu). The one Rose that is available is a Sancerre Rose. The real issue is that they need to buy 50,000 bottles and trying to find such a producer is difficult. He recommended that we try the Syrah from Washington.

On the Thursday leaving the States, the LA Times ran a story on Randy Kemner and the Wine Country in Signal Hill. It talked about how Rose are increaing in popularity. I've made a copy for the QM2.
